Jojo Express team · checked against GOV.UK, 2 Nov 2026 · 6 min read

Sacks of dried foodstuff and crayfish at a market stall
In short
  • Not allowed: meat (suya, ponmo, kilishi), milk, eggs, dried beans.
  • Limits: fish and crayfish 20 kg, honey 2 kg. Fresh produce needs a certificate.
  • Allowed: garri, elubo, semo, palm oil, spices, sealed snacks.

Why meat and dairy are banned

To keep out animal diseases. Banned items are destroyed at the airport, with no refund.

Why dried beans are banned

Pesticide residues. The UK and EU ban has held since 2015, for any amount.

New in 2026: the EU took egusi off its high-risk list. The UK has not, so ask us before you send it.
